It is hard though when we are taught almost from birth to watch the needle on the bathroom scales. This leads people to think they aren’t doing very well if weight loss is minimal some weeks.
Because I was building my strength however, big wobbly fat was being replaced with dense, shapely muscle, which in turn burns more fat.
The scales hardly moved some weeks, yet I still lost what looks like a whole lot of fat.
When I look at before and after photos of me, I think it looks like I lost about 35kgs, most of it butt. But I didn’t, it was only 20. It is amazing just how much difference there is in the size of lean, shapely muscle to big wobbly fat. When I looked in the mirror at the end of the first week, I noticed a very definite difference to the curve of my waistline. I could SEE my body shape transforming before my eyes.
You will not get this on a quick-fix diet.
Essentially the short answer to this healthy eating plan is: You need to be concentrating on developing lean muscle tissue for a lifetime through eating a healthy muscle building diet and toning exercises, rather than depleting your stores through calorie reduction.
Muscle also has very good taste, I assure you. You will never be hungry, never feel deprived, you will have boundless energy, clear skin and eyes.
There are also other little hidden benefits. A diet high in muscle building protein means your hair and nails will grow long and strong. You will feel better about yourself and your life than you have in a long time. Gone will be the constant, destructive self-criticism. Gone will be feelings of inadequacy because you have an answer – “Shut-up brain, I’m fixing it!”
You will have a sense of self-satisfaction that you can’t pay for and no-one can give you but yourself.
