Tips On How to Make Running Enjoyable

Running is a repetitive activity which too many will seem like a very mundane and boring way to exercise. I used to think the same thing until I realised that I can make it enjoyable.

Here are a few Ideas:

• Go running in places where you enjoy being e.g. at the beach, by a river or in the bush. When possible I try to not run in the city or in busy areas. I have always found it more enjoyable running out in nature.

• Change where you run frequently. You don’t want to be looking at the same scenery every time.

• Take your I-Pod, MP3 player, portable CD player etc out with you so you can listen to your favourite music

• Run with a friend, your partner, your dog or join a running group.

• If you are the competitive sort than make running a competition with yourself or others. Set yourself goals to try and achieve each time. Once your fitness increases enter in fun runs etc.

• Have a reward at home for after you finish your run. Could be a DVD you have always wanted to watch, a magazine to read or yummy healthy food to eat. Just a little something to look forward to and keep motivation high. (don’t make it a fatty or sugary food, kind of defeats the purpose of going for a run).

Running works for losing weight. Hey if it worked for me, it can work for anybody. All you need is a good attitude and the willingness to work hard to achieve what you desire.
